Keep in mind that the passport card is ONLY good for land border crossings. You CANNOT fly with it. If your gf had only the card,and some emergency came up where she needed to suddenly fly home from Canada, she'd be SOL. You'd have to drive back across the border from wherever you are so she could catch a flight at a US airport.
