Do park hosts have to leave?

We are just curious, if you are workamping or park hosting in a national park or COE, are you being asked to leave due to the govt shutdown?

What if all the visitors told them to Pound Sand and not leave??

All this is costing some folks a lot of misery.

Easy. Call the guys with the badges and the guns. You are trespassing. You will leave, either on your own, or in the back of a patrol car.

Not sure but the federal lands are mine and yours, we are not trespassing!
And it may not be that easy.

Yes, these lands belong to us, but when they are closed, you will be asked to leave. At that point if you refuse you could be charged with trespassing. Only the courts could decide if the charges would stand up.

I would also guess law enforcement would have to be at a federal level, and that would be more serious than locals.

If everyone refuses, then it could be an act of civil disobedience. Marshall law.

You question does pose an interesting scenario.

I would guess that Law enforcement would want to "squash" it before it got too big or out of hand. Got to keep us "peons" in line you know.

Our "ownership" is not quite as simple as you would like everyone to believe.

If you want to test it, go on in and let us know what happens to you.:B

There is a simple solution to the pound sand idea.

Turn off the power and water.

Here at Table Rock Lake the Rangers asked each visitor to leave if they refused then licensed officers would be brought in and the removal process would continue. Bottom line is that the utilities would be shut down, restrooms locked, and entrance gates locked. If your property were still inside the gates you may have problems getting it out until this issue is resolved.
  • The whole process is to show us who is boss, and I thought they worked for US.
While there were attempts to keep the parks open they were rejected so we would feel the pain. There are privately financed parks on Federal land that are being shutdown these were not closed the last time there was a shutdown. Why now?
  • I wounder about all the words, "go pound sand". If everyone would remember we voted most of those people into office. I for one have been trying to vote them out and replace with someone who has never been in office. They have not been working for the people for many years. They get paid, benefits, health insurance and much more. And yet they say they can relate to us.
  • Due to the political degeneration of this topic it is now closed.
