Do those driving glasses really turn "night into day"

At one point I had a cataract problem. Normally my night vision is better than anyone I know, which leads me to suspect I can see in the red spectrum better than most.

Then the cataract problem came up and I found that the amber lenses over my glasses did help in the night vision area. No way could I predict that it will help anyone else.

After my surgery I have not used the amber lenses and things seem normal now.
