I previously pulled a Mustang convertible that weighed just over 3,000 lbs, and I didn't use a braking system. But, my actual coach weight is 28,000 lbs with a 32k chassis limit, so adding 3,000 lbs to the coach itself did not present a braking problem. Now I pull a Hummer that weighs 4,600 and I use a Roadmaster system that operates in conjunction with the coach's air brakes.
Since your coach is lighter and the chassis weight limits may be considerably less, I'd suggest using a braking system. The type that fits under the hood, like a B&G, is preferred over the box type that fit between the seat and the brake pedal. Several of my friends have had the box type and had problems with unintentional braking, and brake lock ups, as well as battery discharging.
