These definitions of terms are making me think... (uh oh)
I see what you're saying Dewey and agree with the differences, but I tend to agree with Holstein about goals just because of the way I see them personally.
A goal is something to really try hard to achieve - you know - like in sports. To miss the goal lets somebody down - your teammates or just yourself.
An aim is more relaxing - I always liked the saying to aim for the stars. You don't really have to get there, but you can try - and have fun along the way.
I think you can tell by the way I set up those personal definitions that I would rather be someone with aims than goals; I don't like to fail and I do like to have fun.
