Nope, goals are quantifiable and measurable. Goal-setting ideally involves establishing specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bounded (S.M.A.R.T.) objectives. You can read more about it Here.
Sure this is the definition of a goal in a professional setting. When I get my yearly evaluation, I'm graded on how well I have accomplished the previous years goals and if I have not accomplished one, it may be because the measure of accomplishment takes more than a year. I don't get marked down if I'm making abjectives twoard these goals. How I did compared to my fellow employees determines how much of the pot I get for a salary increase. Then I'm required to set a number of SMART goals for the new year.
In life, ambitious people set goals for themselves. These do not have to be measurable, but it helps. No one is keeping track of the goals I set for myself in life so I don't have to prove to anyone that I'm making progress. I'm not going to tell my boss that goal setting is not important.
Less ambitious people may have aims - which is not a bad thing. They are happy living day to day.
So setting goals are important to you or they are not.
