Everybody talks about how important it is to have goals, but I disagree. A goal has to be specific, measurable, and has a deadline. (For example, retire at 60 years old with x dollars in the bank) ...

I like to pick 5 goals every year and set a date to achieve them. It's usually a place to visit or something to see, but I used that strategy to get a Master's Degree. Last year it was to read the complete works of Mark Twain, Travel to Maine, Hike one of the trails in North Florida, Hike four segments of the Appalachian Trail, and visit all the state parks within 100 miles. The only one I didn't do was finish reading everything by Mark Twain. I never realized he wrote so much.
