Dodging hurricane Matthew
We are making a tentative plan to deal with Matthew. Before you tell me, I already know it is way off and things can drastically change. I have personally been through the eye of several hurricanes, and had thousands in damage from same. I also have a great deal of respect for them.
Right now if you look at the projected track we are at the exact location where it shows " possible landfall ". ( 30 miles S of Wilmington NC 30 miles N of MB SC )
We are on a island and have been advised already that if it hits close by a mandatory evacuation will be imposed. Fine by me. We rode out one 90mph storm here and it was very exciting to say the least.
We have never had an RV during one of these events. We have always evacuated to relatives or motel inland.
So after all that here is my question. We have a TT sitting in the drive which obviously will have to be moved off the island if the storm hits close by. Told my GF that we may load up and head due west towing the TT. That is if the hurricane is on the East side of us, or worse a direct hit. If it comes inland south of us in SC that will eliminate our escape to the West in the TT. Guess I will just store it somewhere close by and head for a hotel somewhere.
Does my escape to the West idea make sense? ( If we do that we would leave well in advance of landfall giving us time to get several hundred miles inland )
Ideas?
