It's funny that no one has mentioned the REAL reason electric cars are becoming more popular: they are fun to drive! The instant torque of an electric motor and the lack of a herky-jerky auto transmission make for an addictive driving experience and that's before you factor in the total silence from the drivetrain..... Being able to use the power and still pay only a fraction of the fuel costs of an ICE vehicle while "refueling" at home overnight is just a bonus.....
