Toad setups are almost always done in one of 3 ways (and none of these 3 involve wiring in license plate lights):
1. Magnetic lights
2. Separate bulbs installed and wired into tail lights
3. Existing tail lights wired up to work from MH, using diodes
Suffice it to say, if this (not having working license plate lights on a toad) is illegal, then almost ALL of us are illegal and have been for a very long time. I find that a bit hard to believe. :)
Personally, I have much more important things to worry about..
OR....you use none of the above and instead a COOLTECH plug in and play harness on your Jeep JK Wrangler and even your toad's side markers, along with the front parking lights will work as well....:)
Good point, I did not realize that Cooltech wiring kits did that.
However, Cooltech only makes that harness for Jeeps. There are a LOT of other kinds of vehicles being towed behind MHs.
