We have been mostly fortunate when camping around dog owners. Their courtesy included standing at the edge of the site, waiting for us to come to them instead of bringing their dog into our sitting/cooking/personal space.
Bottom line, MOST of the folks with pets are very aware of others' feelings and quite courteous.
But it's the 1%-ERS who are rude or even unsafe who get the headlines and everyone else has to bear the hostility.
I recommend we remember that when reading of dog owner stories. They are isolated events, often in the worst examples of courtesy and have no more to do with other dog campers than we all have to do with the meth-heads playing Breaking Bad in the woods ;)
