Just jumping into this thread, and haven't read it all, but...
Last year was our first year camping with our dog. We were actually very up front with our neighbors and asked them if they had heard the dog. Our dog generally doesn't bark, but camping was new to him and we knew we wouldn't necessarily know if he had. The last thing we wanted was for him to be bothering the other campers, so we asked.
If he had been barking, we would have left him elsewhere or stayed in the campground. The notion that people should have to deal with another person's incessantly barking dog is profoundly inconsiderate and absurd!
