Dometic Micro/Conv. Oven

We have the above appliance in our Class C and it rattles like crazy on rough roads (e.g. I-69). While DH drives, I go back and look at it and I can see it vibrating, yet to touch it, all seems secure. Twice we have hit a bump and the door has flung open so now I remove the glass turntable when we are moving. Sure don't want that bouncing out and hitting the Corian counters and smashing.

Has anyone else experienced this noise irritation? Any suggestions what to do as all the visible screws seem to be tight. Sure hate to take it into a service center and pay $100/hour for a tech to fool around with it.

That's part of your noise problem .... do not travel with the glass turntable or it's roller ring inside the microwave.

Also, if your propane cooktop has grills on it .... make sure the holes or spots that support the grill's feet have rubber grommets or pads.

We completed a 9 week trip and the micro was empty and still rattled so the turntable ring, etc. are not part of the problem. Also our cooktop is the European style that does not have rings and grommets. I know what you are talking about as our Class A had those little grommets. These burners are different style and are not contributing to the noise.
    It is definitely the oven.

This unit is just over a year old and out of warranty. The rattles have been there for a while but it has only been recently that we were able to pinpoint where the noises were coming from. Previously we thought the noise was somewhere in the slide. We are now convinced that is not the problem since I could see the oven vibrating while driving on a rough road.

  • Hi,

Mine rattled so I added some plastic clips to act as spacers. It is quiet now.

  • The door should NOT open when you hit a bump.

I have been RV'ing for over 20 years and never had a micro door open.

If your RV is new i would take it back to the dealership and have them replace the micro period as it is defective.

And would NOT pay them one cent to take it out and replace it.
