Civil Forfeiture is not only limited to cash; they can take your RV and all its contents as well. The concern is there are still many states where court orders or convictions still are not required. Law Enforcement simply has to belive your RV is being use in or is the product of illegal activity and you may find yourself standing on the side of the road. Sadly, regardless how many bogus forfeitures that occur, many will still support unregulated seizures by justifying it in the name of the war on drugs or terrorism.
This. Completely accurate and scary as heck.
Is there a list of dangerous states we should remember not to visit? - ItsyRVExplorer

- down_homeExplorer IIIt has been a long time since this illegal activity was first reported in in La I think. Everyone was screaming to State and federal Government to fix it.
The Sheriff was reigned in for a while, I don't remember details. to the amazement of Everyone the States passed laws making it illegal legal.
Then The Courts upheld it and The Feds got in on it with the States, or they got involved before going to the Supreme Court.
It is as illegal/un-Constitutional as it gets. It flies in the face of due process. Everyone will have to raise a continual storm to get POTUS and Congress to act.
All in the name of fighting Drug Trafficking and other crimes.
Lots of people have lost their money or had to spend more than they had to get the other back.
I don't have any money to carry so no problem there, now. It's all been paid in taxes. If they have lipo suction machines they can confiscate some of my waist line. - ItsyRVExplorerConsidering his first example is based on false information, (the example would have been an illegal seizure under state law opening the officer and department to punitive damages) so, I stopped watching at that point.
- rhagfoExplorer IIIThere are better ways than cash! We just sold a car and did a bank to bank funds transfer. Only downside you never hold the cash in your hand, just is added to your bank balance.
- azdryheatExplorerI don't have any cash to carry.
