Don't just run to the RV dealership....

Just had an oil/ filter change and state inspection done at my local Ford dealership ( they have a dedicated truck service center) and the whole thing took 45 mins and $65.00. (Castrol GTX Semi-Synth 5w-20. And a Ford oil filter) price for that same service at rv dealer..... 145.00. Now before someone says "i do my own...." at my age and the fact that in this state we have to get an inspection every year, just makes sense for me

I get 6 * 8 quart full synthetic change with filter for just over $400, to me the delta between the cost of oil and filters (~$330) and that cost just isn't worth it to do myself. While it's in it also gets looked at by a trained mechanic, haven't had them flag anything since it's a 2015 with just over 30k miles but it's nice knowing another set of eyes is looking at it. I won't necessarily have them do the work as I have two shops I trust well on the mechanical side but if they bring anything up I'll know to take it to a shop for a second opinion.

    I'm just speechless! :h

That I think my time is worth more than $11 per oil change?
  • I get all of our routine service done at a Ford Truck center on our E450. The center is in a rural community about 20 miles from us. My charges were as follows:

    labor $10
    Filter $5.20
    6 qts of oil $18.18
    Hazardous waster disposal $4.00
    State Tax $2.24

    Total $39.62

I think it was the fact that your post didn't make a lot of sense. What is "6 * 8 quart full synthetic change with filter for just over $400"?

Quantity 6 of 8 quart oil changes, my local place does buy 5 get 1 free so when comparing it to doing myself I compare the cost of 6 changes to buying supplies and doing them myself.
