I don't get too worked up about the small stuff. For $5 or $10, we just buy our wood at a store near our campground, or from the camp host. I figure researchers spend many, many years studying the science of bugs and know their behaviors way better than I do and are trying to protect our recreational areas for the next generations. That doesn't mean things always go as planned, but at least they are trying to do the right thing.
Instead of the small stuff, I focus on not wasting money on silly things like $500 shoes, $300 per-month cell phone bills, $5 cups of fancy coffee, etc. Now, if I could just break my ice cream habit!
