I recall seeing a TV movie about a fella who wanted to visit his
estranged brother who was dying in another state.
He had no car so he figured he'd use his riding lawnmower to drive the several hundred miles to get there. Tried starting the troublesome beast to no avail, so suffering from Stubborn Old Coot Syndrome, he shoots it dead with his shotgun!
He then moseys about the local town and strikes a barter deal with a fella for a riding mower that works.
He starts on his roadtrip and meets all kinds of characters along the way and has his share of misadventures himself.
He does make it to his bro's house though after several days.
