door knob hits glass sliding door and

wondering of a way to make this safer?

the door knob from the pantry when opened actually makes contact with the sliding glass door into my toyhauler garage area. I know where this is going in the long run :E

I thought of a tennis ball cut and put onto the knob but what a royal pain that would be to take off just to open the pantry.

Then I thought a door stop just shy of it hitting the glass slider will have to be put into place somehow.

Then I thought if I just buy one of those stuffed long round small pillow door draft stops and put it there it should work right?

just curious what way you guys would handle it?

Get an "L" shaped door stop and put it in either the floor, ceiling or both (Depending on how close to teh ceiling the door gets) so it stopps the door, or a LONG staright door stop if you can use one of those.

The link has photos of many different door stops... I can not give a recommendation on the store (Found 'em with Google a few seconds ago, never done business with them so Can not recommend for or against) but I'd "Window Shop" and pick a design or two and either order, or visit your hardware store and see what they have in stock.
  • :) duh, that is smart obviously, yet I sure didn't think of that !! thanks
  • Thanks

I didn't think of a door fix with a chain! Smart. Now I have some small work to do to correct this. I like that it is out of sight, inside the door, and nothing changes on the outside. cool. appreciate the help!
  • Maybe over kill but I had the parts on hand. Some 1/32" stainless cable with solder lugs crimped on the ends. Wood screwed one end on the door, the other on the jamb. If you put one twist in the wire, it will snap down when you close the door and not stick out or get stuck in the hinge.

    Version 2
Use two medium small screw eyes. Attach a piece of cord.

Both - no strain on the hinge and nothing to rattle.

Maybe a spring/chain or piston type stop on the inside of the cabinet door.

I don't like the hinge pin type stops....door flexes and strain/pressurize is applied to hinge screws.

I think that the chain idea would work quite well.

Mount one end of chain on pantry frame......open door so knob doesn't hit sliding glass and then attach other end of chain.
