- restlesswindExplorerYou might check if there is an adjustment possible either on the door or the door frame. It could be that the part on the door frame has loosened and moved
from it's correct placement.
It could be that the lock/latch mechanism need to be replaced.
Check the simple/cheap things first. - 1SGExplorerI'm not sure how the door latch mechanism works or looks like but you should go over to IRV2.com and ask this under the Monaco forum.
I was having the same trouble with my 2006 HR Endeavor and found the answer to the problem with that group I was shown how to adjust the latch mechanism and my door works perfect now.
Paul - snowdanceExplorerHave been thru that many times over the years.. Go out side and push (not pull) on the door with one hand while you open the latch. If it works what you will find is the movement going down the road has worn a grove in the latch bolt from the striker plate. So if you pull the bolt is set in the grove from the striker plate and you can not move it. You can file it smooth again. Also best way to keep the door shut when moving is a dead bolt. And they will come up with the same problem over the years..
- ctpresExplorerThis worked for me.
With outside paddle held open by third hand on inside paddle, I could see a metal ramp (part of paddle) that raised a white plastic cam. Surface of both parts had 33,000 miles worth of dust and dirt making operation rough. No way to clean or smooth rough surfaces without taking it apart. So I put spray tube on silicone and blasted it reasonably clean. Also lubed latch bolt same way.
2,000 miles and three months later SMOOTH operation. - RoyBExplorer III think my 5th wheel trailer door is starting to do the same thing. I can help it alot with a good soaking with WD40.
I too can open it easier by pulling on the latch and pushing on the door at same time.
