Downsize. We took the plunge.trading our 2014 T325 Torque monster 5th toyhauler for a 2017 T29 Torque travel trailer toyhauler.saving about 5 ft in length. 5th was 39.8 ft and new one is 34 ft total with tongue.saving about 3000 lbs. in weight. 11K down to about 7700K for dry weight.1 and 1/2 bath down to 1...hubby is happy only 1 black tank to deal with :)height we save like 4 inches or so and to hubby that is alot when we try to avoid those high tree branches in state parks :) :)getting new one monday. this weekend is ALL about unloading the 5th and then trade mon. and be done. WE thought hard on this one. But in the end we wanted smaller, so downsizing won out. As we get older, for us personally it is all about getting easier and simpler and smaller in our desires.this T29 packs in all we want. queen bed for kiddo. king in master. but it isn't a enclosed box like the 5th, poor kiddo never go good AC back there and died in the heat (we are hot weather beach bums) and state parks are only 30 amp, so heck we couldn't even run our master bed AC ever. so it all went into the decision to back it down and change it up :)will let everyone know how the new T29 does on my trip on June 19. 10 days at the beach in 95 plus weather. I hope it performs well!so that is an update on our 'toyhauler adventures' in our life right now. Toyhaulers Rule :), well if you love them like we do LOL

We are getting ready to do the same. Both boys grown up and out. We do not need anything this big for the two of us. We stay pretty close to home, maybe going to some of the state park campgrounds at the beaches around here. I have someone coming to look at ours next week, if we agree on cash price it goes. We will downsize to something smaller, lighter and easier to get in and out of our favorite spots at Hunting Island. Maybe even a 29 or under travel trailer and we do not really care if it has slides or not. Just a comfortable clean cool place to sleep, enough room to get in from the rain, a decent kitchen and a big awning.

We are going to downsize sort of (we are full timers) for parts of our travels. We recently bought a trike and will purchase a camping trailer to go with it. We will travel around to areas where it is difficult with our 37 ft 5th wheel And spend some time in state parks.

As our son gets older, we find ourselves doing new and i teresting things we hadnt previously done before. We havent had our fw a year yet, and i ponder often if losing that truck bed space is goong to be a problem. Cant use our kayak rack, fishing gear doesnt really have a home. Soon we'll need to bring 3 bikes. I love our size, and i love our setup, but already in the back of my head, i just wonder if a tt will better serve in the future.

yea tow length didn't change much but that actually wasn't a factor for us mostly.Chris we do Hunting Island also. wonderful park! Smaller means so much more ease getting into the smaller sites....and I get you....there is a ton of luxury still available in a smaller camper :) just the things you want!jnh, yes I know what you mean. ours was so big it was hampering some of the places we want to go. not all the time I have the luck of getting that 'bigger site' to fit us when fighting for a reservation. shorter is easier tho.Thirty, hubby is thrilled to be getting his truck bed back actually. I see a few of us are in transition stages :) we just decided it was time to get a bit smaller but with an 11 yr old DD still we didn't want 'too small' but we found going bigger isn't always better LOL

Replaced our 40 foot with a 30 foot. Living room and kitchen have more open space in the short one. Less counter space we have dealt with. It's all in the floor plan. Never will go back to those long beasts.

We finished getting ours emptied out yesterday, hard to believe all of that was in there. A lot accumulated from my living in it while working out of town prior to relocating here. The new owners took it out of our yard this morning. Hated to see it go, however we had not used it in over 4 years. Will take a little time and then we will replace it with something smaller.

update is we got all the stuff out. it wasn't 'too much' at all cause I am a minimalist type person...but one thing I do, some stuff accumulated in upper cabinets that won't be coming back into the new camper :)

today is go thru and spruce up/clean a little bit and it is ready to go.

hubby is going to look for someone to buy our slider 5th hitch I guess. he said he will deal with that later.

I love also there is only 1 smaller 1/2 type slide in it. I remember our Wildcat 5th. 3 full slides. that sucker became fat in width and we always harder to juggle our way into sites cause of the slides. now it will be so simple to easily manuever into any site. Plus hubby said 1 slide is better than 3 now when it comes to maybe one deciding not to work :)

we definitely are happy about our downsize and like I said, we didn't go 'that small' cause we still have kiddo. later down the line when she hits college in some years we will consider another trade and go smaller.

BOUT, you can go anywhere and fit! That is a wonderful feeling isn't it and I hear you on 'traveling' a bit more since it is so easy to jump in and go fast and not think about 'where am I going to park' this monster LOL

Started with a 40' diesel pusher.
"Downsized" to a 34' 5th wheel.
Both were too cumbersome for me to drive so hubby was always stuck doing it. Setup was a bear for the 5th wheel, and both prohibited us from camping at certain places due to size.

We now own a Coachmen freelander that is 24.5 feet long and can go anywhere. I can drive it and set it up with ease. We camp more now than we ever did before. We fit everywhere. I do miss the extra storage and space and it was hard to give up the outside kitchen on the 5th wheel, but when I watch my friends with the big toy hauler or the extra long travel trailer with 2 entry doors and 1.5 baths struggle to get backed into their site, it really takes the sting out of downsizing!

there ya go NYCgrrl, I hear you. when it is time to get smaller, it DOES make one happy. smaller is not always worse by any means :)

Just put an order on a 23' TT and based the right size for us on our current apartment's L/R. I suspect smaller will make us happy as well.
