My wife and are are arguing about making coffee with campground water.I've always used a water filter on our White Hose, but my wife has never tasted campground water, she buys gallons of water.The water in question is at Desoto State Park. (Alabama)I've drank the water, both filtered and unfiltered.I can't tell the difference. Taste like the water at our home.Far as I know they have never had a problem with their water.???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????I'd like to know how the forum feels about general campground water.Do you buy gallons of water for coffee, or use what comes out of the faucet?

I have seen water from very good to very bad. I use bottled water for consumption. Water filters vary and most will not be effective.

I do filter my water but I also drink bottled water. Honestly, since we travel with four small dogs, I'm more worried about their intake of a new water source than my own. Bad water can result in EXPLOSIVE results in dogs....if you know what I mean. Ahh...4 dogs drink a lot of water so I am thinking of an RO system but don't like the waste involved.

Not a believer in bottled water. Biggest creator of plastic waste and waste of the public's money. Been using campground water since 1984.

If water quality is good for drinking I still use a whole house water filter to catch any sediment or rust that may be in the campground water lines. I've had slightly discolored water containers due to rust flakes sitting in them that came from pipes when tent camping for 4 days.

I use Camco inline outside water filter from Walmart.

It doesn't matter how the forum members feel about CG water.
Your wife wants bottled water. Buy her the water. You're not going to win this one. ;)

FWIW. I can drink CG water. My DW wants bottled water. So I carry a couple cases of water.
I do recycle my plastic and we quit using plastic straws.

Saving the planet by recycling and boycotting plastic packaging, but traveling around in or towing an RV while getting 7 mpg :S

I use campground water for coffee! Have for many many years not only for coffee but anything else that requires water. Water does taste different from place to place. Is it city water or well water how's the city water treated. Many things can go to the taste, but each water source has to be government tested for safety.

On the lighter side. Make stronger coffee will never know about the water.

We are supposed to be putting those plastic water bottles in the recycle bin not the regular trash. I wish campgrounds would be a bit more proactive in the recycling area really. Most CG's have small and inadequate bins for recycling materials. I know too that most campers are not that diligent in separating their trash while camping. Too much trouble? Not for me. Recycle when you can.
