Yes he hit and killed someone, but if it wasn`t intentional then it was an accident and he shouldn`t be charged criminally!
I once saw a video of an 18 wheel semi-truck/trailer go past a stopped school bus, with its lights on and stop sign out, at a high rate of speed, on the shoulder right between the bus and the child who was walking toward the bus.
There are IDIOTS out there. - SteeljagExplorerApart from this article, I have witnessed more and more people operating their RVs and pulling TT &FWs at high speeds. I was passed yesterday S/B on I95 near Ormond Beach by a truck / TT combo traveling at approx. 80 mph! I watched them come up behind me (changing lanes twice while in my view) and then pass me. Truck appeared to have at least five people to include kids.
Holiday weekend, everyone in a hurry to get somewhere, but the safety of our families, and others families on the road MUST be our focus! - Nutinelse2doExplorerHow sad for everyone involved. I cannot imagine having that on my conscience for the rest of my life.
Drive safe out there everyone. Scary how life can change in a split second. - Romer1Explorer

There was quite a thread on this when it happened back in May. He claimed a blind curve. Just last month drove that section of 65 south from Nashville to Birmingham and didn't feel there were any blind curves @ 62mph. - lizzieExplorerWhatever happened think how awful he must feel. Everybody makes mistakes and so far I haven't made any that resulted in the injury or death of another human being. Something else to be thankful for. lizzie

I think that's supposed to be "We shouldn't CONDEMN withOUT all the facts."
People will always comment no matter how little information is provided - commenting leads to discussion, introducing new facts, offering possible reasons, etc. Condemning does not of that. - dodge_guyExplorer IIWe can`t comment on this with all the facts! - chevorExplorerI drive all day and see more and more of the people who should know better, driving recklessly.

There is absolutely nothing "extenuating" here. While it is easy for us to "Monday morning quarterback" his statement is damning. There is no excuse whatsoever for not being in complete control of your vehicle at all times(as required by law). Clearly, by his own admission, he was exceeding the safe speed (Basic speed law), for the conditions.
I can only hope this will serve as a lesson for others. Slow down folks, there is nowhere you "have" to be that is worth someone's life.
:E - coolmom42Explorer IIDo keep in mind that he has only been indicted, not convicted.

There is a curve on I-65 where the incident occurred, but I'm sure traffic was already slowing down in the adjacent lanes, due to the wreck. If he had been paying attention to conditions, he would have noticed that, and started slowing down or moving over way back. There are 4 lanes on each direction of I-65 at that point.
