Drones illegal
They just banned the use of any drone in the East Bay Regional Parks here in northern CA. I won't be surprised if the State follows this law by making it illegal in all the State Parks real soon. Next...

The difference is generally speaking (I know there are exceptions) most RC planes are flown in controlled conditions at RC flying fields and most fields restrict access to club members. (they have strict lockout procedures so only one plane is flying on a given frequency at any time). Most RC plane owners belong to the AMA (the one for rc planes not medical) which provides insurance coverage. And there ARE restrictions on RC planes as far as controlled airspace etc. In really broad generalities, you're comparing a group (RC planes) that attempt to be self policing versus somebody buying a drone and flying it where ever and when ever they want.
