I consider myself to be quite defensive when it comes to driving, always watching out, looking at other vehicles, preparing for any bonehead thing they may do.... But you know, sometimes some clown...

I believe they can 'total the truck' and give you that specific amount of money, then you can take your own truck back (pay them the 'junk price' difference), and then fix it yourself, or have a body shop fix it.
IF you do that, make sure you photo it and go to insurance company after it's fixed and before your insure it again. They have to know you spent the money and got it fixed - otherwise, they later can claim 'new dents' are old dents.
