Update on the situation:
Took the truck to the insurance company to be evaluated.
The front end body damage comes to $6500.00 The frame is bent and they cannot evaluate that until it gets on the frame machine in the body shop where they can check what it needs and repair accordingly. This will likely add $1500 to $2,000. to the bill.
Also this does not include any hidden damage they may find.
I found some additional damage myself. My rack has 1X2 steel pegs about 6" long that go down into the stake pockets of the truck box. The rack and toolboxes weigh about 2000 pounds. On impact the whole unit went forward, separating the steel inside box sides from the rear corner uprights. Ripped the steel and the spot welds.
This will add more to the repair bill as well. The rack and toolboxes have to be removed and the damage further evaluated.
So it looks like the damage will be in excess of ten grand. Dang it, I'm not very happy about this!
Bodyshop has the repair sheet from insurance company and parts are on order. It will be going in for repairs some time around the first week in November.
Meanwhile, I have rigged a borrowed headlight into place with zap straps and duct tape so I can drive it.
Now that I have some time since the accident, I have injuries to my neck and lower back. Both very sore and stiff. Neck mobility is limited to about half of normal. Lower back hurts a lot. I picked up my 4 year old granddaughter last night and had a hard time holding her due to lower back pain.
Work is difficult too, especially carrying things up ladders, which makes up a lot of what I do. Taking time off is not an option. I have to carry on working as the bills don't stop.
