Yes that is entirely possible and a very good solution.
I really like the look of the dually with the one piece molded fenders. A service box makes it look like a commercial vehicle and not a cool looking dually.
As good as an idea it is you are suggesting, I really want to maintain the stock pickup look.
Maybe see if a local shop can essentially build a support system for the rack AROUND the box, tying it directly to the framerails?
