Dumping without a Sewer Hose

In a recent edition of Trailer Life I read an editorial about camping etiquette where dumping WITHOUT a sewer hose was mentioned. Does anyone really do this? I can't imagine the mess dumping without a hose would be and using a hose sounds like Camping 101.

As it hits the ditch or field I never really see the need for a hose. I put a lot of water in so it shoots out as far as possible and it keeps it away from the road. No need to waste my gray water for flushing the hose so I use it on my lawn when I get home.

    Love your sarcasm...you're joking right?
Anyway, in California our water problem is getting so great we dump through cheese-cloth. Put the solids in the trash and recycle all the water for our lawns. (Yes, more sarcasm)
  • I have seen it done several times, at least once they attached a hose long enough to keep their tires out of it. They must have thought their poop smelled a lot better than it did! We just waited to the next campground before dumping. No way was I going to get close to that mess. Any want to know why its hard to get camp hosts anymore? You should try cleaning campground restrooms sometimes.

  • Hope it not a wide spread problem as it could cause lots of trouble for the rest of us.
I'll assume that dumping with out a hose does not include those of us who have a hose break, removed the dump cap to find the valve already open, or had the hose pop out of the dump port. ??
  • Maybe there are places designed for dumping without a hose?

Unfortunately some will do it anywhere.
