I've read this with great interest as my DW will not drive, is afraid to drive with the trailer, and frankly I'd be scared if she did drive because she's one that doesn't do well when she's nervous about something. Not a "pressure player" if you know what I mean. But I love her all the same.
I often answer her suggestions when we are driving somewhere with "Do you want to drive dear?" to which I always get a knowing smile and a "No thanks" followed by a lack of suggestions, Just what I wanted ;-).
I will tell this story though. Last summer, we took our longest trip yet with the TT. Cincy to Tampa to camp with some friends for a few days and visit some of her family that lives in the area. We are approximately 1 hour from our campground and as I crest a hill at 55 and head down the downhill grade on a state highway that has traffic lights every half mile or so, I get a light that has changed rather quickly for the short distance I have to stop in. Well while I'm firmly applying the brake but finding that nice balance of enough to stop prior to the light without over doing it and putting our cheekbones against the front windshield, I look over and she's stomping the hell out of the passenger side floor like the pedal she clearly wished she had has lost all brake fluid.
I calmy managed to stop the truck before we got to the light and I looked over to her and said "I thought you said you were never going to drive?" to which we both laughed out loud. One of those priceless memories.
