Agree 100% for reasons stated such as illness, etc. I'll drive anything-can't back up a trailer for spit, but our next rig will be a truck camper so no issue there. Had no problem with the Endura, either.
Question to you gents who claim your wife won't, is too nervous, etc. What's YOUR attitude when she's behind the wheel? Do you add to it by being a white-knuckle passenger, gasping if you think she's too close to the rail, yelling, criticizing, or otherwise adding to the situation? This is why when hubby and I teach firearm courses he is no longer allowed in the room when I am instructing (but we won't go there). Fortunately he's comfortable when I am driving.
Word of advice-have someone ELSE teach her how to drive the rig. Send her to RV or tractor-trailer driving school if there's one near you and you can afford it. There may be a time when both of your lives depend on it.
In my case, it's not about that at all. It's about her comfort and confidence level. I'm actually have a great deal of patience and a calmness when riding with someone else. I train drivers for an "Absolutely, Positively" Great transportation company. I've seen it all and to be successful in helping someone improve their driving skills, you have to build their knowledge, comfort level to get them confident in their abilities.
Something else I've learned in teaching/coaching drivers is some people just don't have the personality for it. The ability to react calmly and regain control when something goes wrong, the ability to not panic and focus in pressure situations like a tire blowing out, the ability to stay focused on their surroundings while driving, etc. Some people are better passengers than drivers. Nothing wrong with that. We all have our strengths and weaknesses. The problem is when you don't know yours and/or won't admit that you have a weakness and either do something to improve it or avoid putting yourself in positions that it can hurt you or someone else.
