Eagle Sighting in Florida?

I saw an Eagle today!
I always thought I would have to check off my RV bucket list to Alaska to see them.

I was driving down the road and it came out of the trees and over my car. What a site to behold! I almost ran off the road trying to see more of it flying! :C

......and the sighting was in all places Dunnellon, Florida!!!

The eagle population is doing well in Florida.

I was just told there is a nest outside Leesburg in a cemetery that has a huge nest and you are able to see the baby Eagles every year leaning how to fly. Making a point of finding that one!

Now that I bought property here and I am experiencing ALL the season's instead of just the 'Snowbird Season'....I think Florida has SO much more to offer than most people think, including me.

I know "I" was looking at Florida thru just the very small eye of a CG and some local tourist stops. Glad I decided to stay. :W

Sightings are pretty common around here, just saw a pair yesterday.
  • We have nesting eagles in PA. There are several eagle cams set up, so you can watch their progress. Last year, the pair nearest to me raised 3 chicks. This year they laid 2 eggs, but one cracked. Apparently, they eat rodents and road kill.
  • They are beautiful to see flying over, or perched on a big tree . However, I do believe that Ben Franklin was right.
  • Had one that lived by my house in Merritt Island,FL. You don't realize how big they are until they are perched on light pole 100'from you. One of the most beautiful birds to see.
  • I was driving across a long bridge near Apalachicola, FL and I noticed a bird flying along side of my truck. I looked over expecting to see a Pelican or Seagull and saw a Bald Eagle instead. The last time I crossed that bridge we saw an Eagle sitting on a power pole.

I use to live near the water in Panama City and there was an Eagle's nest in the marsh about a quarter mile away. We saw the Eagles at least once a week.

  • So you see almost all the Snow Birds fly south for the winter....
  • That's a beautiful bird to see !! We have one near our office.. If I did not see it for myself ,I would have NEVER believed it!!
