My RV, my rules. There is always some shopping I need to do, or a tourist feature I want to visit. I can find a place to park for an hour or two so that my rules (never pay for anything "extra" if there is a way to avoid it) and their rules(You gonna pay me!) achieve balance.
We have never run up against these extra charges for early check-in.
We rarely make reservations accept for Custer State Park, SD. every Fall and never stay at commercial campgrounds. We have our own rules and our TT has wheels and would use them if we don't care for a particular campground and their rules.
