- Broken_OakExplorerWe just use a cube heater. Set it up on the cabinet or where ever it's convenient, turn it off before we leave.
Good luck, Carmen - philnoahExplorerThanks for info. Is the cube heater infra red and/or with thermo shut off?
- RoyBExplorer IIThis is just me but the most safest electric heater we have ever found for the RV trailers is the OIL FILLED ELECTRIC Heaters. These have no visible flame, no visible red hot cores, no heated dust smell, and no noise. Only goes click every now and then. If we need to move some air around abit will use the O2COOL 10-inch AC/DC/D-cell fans sitting behind it.
Works great for us. We use two of the low profile oil filled electric heaters like these... We feel this is perfectly safe to use around small kids and animals and blowing curtains..
Roy Ken - philnoahExplorerRoy, thank you for the idea and explanation. You might have something there.
- naturistNomadI believe you will find that it is illegal to sell any small electric heater that DOESN'T have a safety shut off switch for tip-overs and the like, and has been so for enough years that you will be hard-pressed to find one, even in the junk stores.
In any case, while there are different kinds (IR, oil-filled, ceramic, etc.) they are pretty much all 1500 watts and do the same job with pretty much equal efficiency.
I have two such small 1500 watt heaters I bought a couple years ago for $15 for the pair at Wally's or Target or some such store. They work fine. One of them lives in the TT, one in my office in the sticks 'n' bricks. - newman_fulltimeExplorer III like the convection heaters just have to get a right size to do the job
- 12th_Man_FanExplorerCeramic cube heaters are best in my opinion.
- Deb_and_Ed_MExplorer III like the DeLonghi heaters with the temperature you can set, like you do to your thermostat at home. Granted, there's a little more "swing" before the heater clicks on, and it has a fan, so it's a bit noisy - but still quieter than the darn furnace! Also oscillates, so puts more heat to a larger area. Many nights camping in below-freezing temps, and this single heater has kept us comfortable (with heavy blankets and extra window insulation on our Class C) through the night.

X2, this is what I use - FunnyCamperExplorer IIwe use an oil filled heater also. What I love is when it clicks off, the oil is heated and still releases alot of heat until it finally does click back on. extra heating without electric usage. While they get 'hot' they aren't deadly if you touch them quickly. (ask me how I know that :))
RoyB gave my reasons for using them also.
