Just keep in mind that you are not only lifting the trailer tongue but you are also partially lifting the rear of your tow vehicle. (not lifting it off the ground)...to alleviate some of the tension on your hitch's spring bars when you hitch up and un-hitch.
The 2500 will work just fine, but I'd go for the 3500 for just a few dollars more. It's a stronger unit all around and will last longer.
