Electric steering & towing

2107 GMC Sierra 4X4 Crew Cab--I am all set up for towing but have a question. When I disconnect the battery I will lose my settings. I found a thingy that plugs into my OBDII port and other end connects to an outside battery source. That will keep my setting BUT will it affect the electric steering?

    When researching the Equinox as a toad, I read up on the death wobble issue with electric steering. Do a search. The solution is to bungy cord the steering wheel to the front seat.

    I have a 2016 Silverado. Based on the manual, I disconnect the negative connection on the battery so the steering won't lock. I use a Harbor Freight battery pack $59, for the power for my brake buddy. Then I use a battery operated LED light bar on the back of the truck for the brake lights and turn signals...all works fine...
