I thought about buying an electric jack but I probably need the exercise involved in cranking the manual one. Then I wondered what I would do if the motor quit at a campground -- what would the backup plan be?
They all come with a manual crank and are actually easier to crank then the non electric jack.

Well! In that case I might have to take another look!
Do your homework before purchasing one. On some brands, there is a cover of sorts to take off before you can use the crank. On others, like the Atwoods that I have, the handle just inserts into the head with no dis-assembly needed.

I have an EBay Ultrafab 4000 refurb I picked up for about $1000.00 shipped. Love it.
Did you mean One Thousand Dollars or One Hundred Dollars? :) - jerem0621Explorer III have an EBay Ultrafab 4000 refurb I picked up for about $1000.00 shipped. Love it.
- mtofell1ExplorerI picked up one at Camping World on sale for $150 or so. Like the others said, it's the best money you'll ever spend. As for weight I think pretty much any of them will do. I don't think I've ever seen one under 2000#
- bob213ExplorerAnother vote for Mantelli. Picked up a Bulldog (Fulton) from them at a great price. Only one out there with a 5 year warranty, although I've heard nothing but good about Barker and Ultra Fabs customer service.
- APTExplorer2 years with UltraFab 3502 refurbished for under $100 shipped. 3500 pound rating, to raise the trailer tongue and rear of tow vehicle for WD bar attachment.
And if "It can take a fair amount of power to break the hitch loose form the TV", you are doing something wrong. - Iraqvet05ExplorerI picked up a new Barker off of eBay for cheaper than I could find it anywhere else. Mantelli Trailer Sales (listed as mtsrv) has been on eBay since 2006 with 100% feedback...great seller and a great price.
