- pitchExplorer IIWhy should I or anyone one else subsidize your pleasure? Never heard of a TAX subsidy for a golf cart or any other pleasure item.
- IvylogExplorer IIIThat green giveaway was several years ago. Fortunately there was enough push back that it did not last very long. x2 on above post.
- KemahsabeExplorerI believe it's expired now, but there used to be a large tax credit available for the purchase of road-legal electric vehicles. I know a couple people who bought golf carts and got a 100% tax credit, then sold them.
Personally, I agree with pitch. But the government owns the ball, so we might as well play their game. - rbtgloveExplorerThere was a tax rebate in the early 2000s for one year ($7500 as I remember). Had to be street legal and electric and meet some other requirements. I tried to get one but it was impossible due to demand all were snapped up before the deadline. Don't know if there is any rebates now. Had two electrics and now have a gas one. There are advantages abnd dis avantage to both. If I get another I'll go back to electric.
- FunnyCamperExplorer IImost campgrounds do not allow gas carts.
electric is your safest bet to be able to use it. - gclossExplorer

While some may think Golf Carts are a pleasure item, many communities around the country are considered "Golf Cart Communities". I will be moving to Peachtree City Georgia in 4 years. Peachtree City is one of the largest Golf Cart communities in the USA with approximately 30,000 resident and 10,000 registered Golf Carts. Only electric Golf Carts are allowed.
Peachtree City is a well planned community with more than 100 miles of specialty roads for Golf Carts, where they are considered a major source of transportation. So why not have tax credits for Golf Carts? - HalmfamilyExplorer

Wow. Are you sure the op doesn't need one due to a medical issue? I'm looking into purchasing one in a couple of years as I am now partially disabled and have issues walking around a campground. I still want to enjoy my camping and not just sit at my site. An electric golf cart is a great way to get around for those of us who are not blessed with perfect health.
I can agree that there should not be a tax rebate on one as they are generally used for work or pleasure. - rk911Explorer

why not tax credits for RVs? musical instruments? airplanes (I'd like that one)? other recreational equipment? - RoyBExplorer III guess if the golf carts were a tax credit - maybe the cost of the 6VDC GOLF CART BATTERIES would be also... We all could use four each T105's sooner or later...
Roy Ken - FlapperExplorerUmmm, there are tax credits for RV's - you can deduct the interest as part of the home mortgage deduction......
