I am not very good at electrical so I will try to explain this as best I know howthe electrical sockets in the front of my camper are not working when I plug something into thembut when I check the socket with a tester I have powerhere is how I am checking themrun one lead from the large plug and the other to the small plug and I get powerrun one lead from the large plug and the other to the round plug (one on bottom) and I have powerrun one lead from the small plug and the other lead to the round plug I have no poweram I checking this right or do I have a problem thanks

If you are describing it right, the hot and neutral are reversed. Small to any other should show voltage. Large to round should show no voltage or near none.EDIT Are you plugged in at home or an RV site? Could be wired wrong at the pedistal.

Yep, sounds like you have power on your neutral (large "plug") and none on your power (small "plug"). The bottom "plug" (round) is the ground. So you should have power (110vac) when measuring either from the small plug to the large plug, or small plug to the round ground plug.Did this just happen? What type of "camper" do you have? Are you plugged in to shore power or running off of inverter and/or generator?Ron

NEUTRAL AND HOT ARE CROSSED/SWITCHED. Hate to yell but you just completely ignored what I wrote.

Start by putting the tester into the supply you are plugging the RV into.Use an actual outlet tester for $8 at the hardware store.

I just have a test light

I will remove bulbs tomorrow and see if that makes any difference

its hard to tell if the switch is on or off because it just a button you push

Are the lights switched on or off. If they are on, they effectively place a short across hot to neutral. If they are switched on and the neutral is open, the light bulbs will place a false voltage on the neutral line. That would make you read a voltage from neutral (big slot) to ground (round).

EDIT Does your tester read a voltage in numbers or just light a lamp?

beaker all the outlets on the gfi work fine I thought that may be the problem too but they seem fine

If you didn't have " No power from the small plug to the round plug", I would say that you have an open neutral (large slot), with something plugged into another receptical. (Putting a voltage on the neutral).

EDIT Is your RV wired for 30 or 50 amp service? If 50 amp, then the front and back are on different legs. If you are using a 50 amp to 30 amp adapter, one side may have an open.

I am pluged in at home at the same place I always plug in

yes it does keep the battery charged

the outlets in the rear of camper work just fine

In the future have one of these on board.
This will tell you exactly what is wrong. Good tester to have on hand at all times in an RV anyway so you can test the shore power too. All the big box stores carry them.

That's why I inquired as to where you are plugged in. It could be crossed at the pedistal or in the RVs power cord. Does the power converter keep the battery charged?

waterbug I did not iqnore what you said but its been working fine for the past 10 years till last fall how could it have gotten switched around
