Entry steps loose on one side

I just noticed when entering the RV the left side of the steps sink about a half inch or more.

Its not the steps (typical three step swing down) their in good shape so the problem must be how they are attached to the camper. I can see 4 bolts holding it in place but the side fascia and side molding are blocking my view of how it's attached to the frame.

Has anyone seen how the step mount assembly is attached to the frame?

Before I take those 4 bolts out and drop the step assembly I'd like to know what to look for.

Thanks

Ron W.

  • My parent's steps on their 5er do the same thing. One of the metal brackets that bolt it to the frame had rusted through and broke. I welded them up a new bracket to bolt on and provide the support. My guess something similar is going on, or you have lost a bolt/nut.
  • They have just started a partial recall on some steps for Keystone Montana models. Not sure if it is expanding to more Keystone models or not.

That's sort of what I was thinking, it feels as if its only being held in place at one point.
