Epsom Salt for Batteries??

Hello all. So my 4 year old group 27 interstate batteries don't hold a charge as long as they used to. After reading about "battery reconditioning" I'm tempted to try this to get some extra life out of my batteries and save some money. Have any of you tried putting Epsom salt into each cell for "reconditioning". Some say they can double the life of the battery while others say they can get an extra 12-18 months. What say you? Any experience with this??
  • Save the money spent on the salts... instead, replace the batteries and consider a decent solar charging system (100+ watts to help counteract parasitic amp draws, even on overcast days... ideally the watts should match the ampere-hours of the combined battery capacity.)

AGMs are expensive, but it might be wise to consider those, as you won't have to worry about watering and other stuff which may get battery acid in your face at a bad time.
  • Far better off getting 100+ watts of solar to maintain the new batteries.
  • Don't do it, buy the new batteries. I lost 3 batteries adding that stuff.
