Another update on this. Todd at Progress Mfg. Determined the problem was Camping World installed a ball with too long of a threaded shank. The extra threading hit the receiver sleeves every time I made a turn causing extra stress. Camping World says that is the same ball they have used on every Equalizer hitch they sell. They say they have never had this issue before, amazing. I suggested they start making some phone calls to customers and ask them to inspect their hitches, but I highly doubt they will.
Equalizer sent them a detailed email this afternoon instructing them to start using the proper ball and even gave them the part number. They have already replaced my hitch head, but it has the wrong ball also so they are ordering me the right one (as long as their manager approves it LOL). I should find out tomorrow.
