Well I've disassembled the head to inspect the friction surfaces and I've found cracks in the square sections that hold the spring bars. If you've read the thread about the Equalizer failure, that's exactly where mine are as well as around the bolt holes. This hitch is done, I will not use it again. It appears that keeping up with the tension on the sway bars at 45ft/lbs has created a worn spot in the normal travel range. Then during tight turns the tension required to push it up out of the wear groves is increased putting a load on the L pins bending them. It's gouged the surfaces outside the normal travel area. This hitch has worked as advertised, but I can't help but to be disappointed with all the wear under normal use in 5 1/2 years.
