- dmullenExplorerWhen someone with the Equalizer gets time would you please post pics of the Sway Bracket Jackets on the hitch and also where to and where not to put grease? I'd really appreciate it, I'm a visual aid kind of guy. 8-)

It must be a very small degree. I have used it both ways extensively and have no sway either way.
I use an Equal-i-zer we have nicknamed "Moana." I, too, would think that the percentage of sway control lost would not be noticeable, especially if the rig is set up properly to begin with.
I towed a 26-ft. TT for years with no sway control. My Sunline towed as well as my Rockwood does now. I'm not sure my Eq. hitch's sway control function has ever come into play. And that's my point. One can't tell if it is working, or how well it's working until it doesn't.
Besides, no back-'em-up "beep, beep, beep" works as well as a Equal-i-zer to warn folks your rig is moving.:)

Well all I can say about that is we are NOT fair weather towers. We have been in wind storms and snow storms that most people here wouldn't dare to tow in. One snowstorm, we passed several cars that had spun off the road (it is amazing how they always seem to end up on their roof) and an 18 wheeler laying on its side.
Whether it's all setup or TV or hitch.... Matters not to me. I always thought of these things as the total package. Nobody should be using a hitch as a band aid for a poorly setup rig. - _tiredTeacherExplorer II

Thanks for the real world feedback, it would be nice to quiet the hitch a little. - HuntindogExplorer

Then why the disclaimer in the fine print? (Just sayin')
.
Here's the fine print direct from the Equalizer web site:
NOTE: Utilizing lubrication on the Equal-i-zer L-Bracket, in the form of the Sway Bracket Jacket or any grease type lubricant, may lessen or decrease your sway control by a small degree.
I have the 1400/14k hitch and have considered getting the jackets.

Makes no difference in performance of preventing sway (that I can tell), but yes, they do reduce the noise. Keep the ball greased and keep all the other joints lubed, but put nothing on that spot where the bars touch the L bracket or the attached jacket and noises is reduced by "bunches!" Never grease that bracket. It's the friction there that helps control the sway.

I do know that I towed close to 100,000 miles with my first EQUALIZER (12K) before the jackets were available. My second one (14K) has about 60K on it with the jackets.
The jackets DO make it quieter, and the DO make for much less wear on the bars and L brackets.
And I have experienced no downsides. - 3oaksExplorer

Nothing like hearing from people that actually used them. Have you? (Just askin')Huntindog wrote:
