The purpose of Escapees is not about discount campgrounds such as Passport America. It was founded for the purpose of sharing, caring and parking, hence, SKP. It began 35 years ago and started as a way of full-timers to meet up around the country and to get any help they may need. It has evolved greatly over the years, including have a mail forwarding service for thousands of happy customers. Their mail service is fully automated (not putting mail in slots) and even has it's own zip code. You are given a real mailing address unique only to you - not a P.O. Box.
Their magazine which is included in the $29.95 membership (until Oct 31) is very professional, little advertising and articles written by Escapees, themselves. It is so much better than Motor Home/Trailer Life or the past, Highways magazine.
They do have discount parks such as Passport America has, but they also have home parks and co-op parks for very reasonable rates.
They have chapters throughout the country and their next big rally will be in Tucson in March. They also offer Boot Camp for newbies. If any of these things interest you then, yes, definitely join. We've been members since before we first started full-timing - 18 years ago.
