Euro van Bs

Was just looking at the 'new' Ford Transit van & the Dodge van using the Fiat van body & was thinking what nice Bs they would make. They would give the Sprinter van some competition.

I think I saw that the Ford is front wheel drive. The Fiat is probably the same. Imagine that. Take them about anywhere.

Also Toyota & Mitsubishi have some pretty nice vans & commuter bus vehicles that have great RV potential.

  • Here around Austin, there is a RT/Winnebago dealer in New Braunfels, an Airstream/Pleasure Way dealer in Buda, and a Sportsmobile factory in Austin proper. No LTV, nor Advanced RV places.

Roadtrek is pretty good, but it can't hurt to see what Pleasure Way and others have to offer. I was pleasantly surprised by the Winnebago ERA, but at 24 feet, it may be a bit long. RT's main Sprinter models are 22 feet, similar with PW.
  • We had been looking at roadtrek.com out of Canada. They seem to be one who really understands what RVers want and need.
  • Europe, this is different. However, in the US, the Dodge ProMaster is front wheel drive. The Ford Transit is rear wheel drive. No 4x4 configurations.

Supposedly, Mercedes has mentioned bringing 4x4 Sprinter configurations to this side of the pond, but this has been rumored for years. I'll believe it when May comes around and the local Mercedes and Freightliner Sprinters have it on the order sheet.

I've mentioned this in other places, but the Transit has a lot of promise as being close to the ideal "B" van. It can't go as long as a Sprinter with its 24 feet, but a high roof, 22 foot van has a lot of possibilities.

Of course, Winnebago has a ProMaster upfit "B". It is quirky, but if you are single, it can be a nice vehicle, especially for the price.
