We got rained out last year. .
It had been raining for days in the Midwest, but we had a trip planned to a small campground on the yellow river in north east Iowa so we thought we would give it a try. When we arrived the river was pretty high and running fast, but not enough to cause concern. It would have had to have come up the bank at least fifteen feet before we would have to worry.
Well Saturday night came and noticed that the campground was starting to pull the seasonal's to higher ground and the host said to just be ready incase. Later that night the storms came and it rained buckets for hours. I ended up going to bed because I thought we would be fine, but the wife and everyone else stayed up. I told her to wake me up if it got too close for comfort. Sure enough about two hours later she woke me up and said it's time to go. A full timer's deck just got swept down river and past our site! Solar lights still on and everything. We got out of there and luckily we had friends who lived five miles away so we pulled in until morning. Turns out most of the place got flooded, but most were able to get out in time. I think only one or two campers were lost.
There are actually pictures on Facebook if you look up Scenic View Campground in Waterville, IA. Here is a picture that someone took of our camp site and posted.

That picture is from Saturday morning. When we left it was up to the picnic table right behind the camper.
