The Derby is a special occasion you should factor the celebration surrounding the Derby into your camping plans and expectations.
Similar to a Holiday weekend,which are generally busier,more crowded and more raucous then a typical weekend.
You can pretend that the Derby is just another weekend,however you are setting yourself up to be disappointed if you think Derby weekend will be peaceful and relaxing.
Many stay home on Holiday weekends because they don't want to deal with the rowdier atmosphere at the CG.
