Extend Propane For A Grill...But How Far ?

Hello Everyone.

I am going to add a "T" before the RV regulators so that I can add a hose for a grill. Don't see where hoses are sold longer than 12 feet, but would like to add about 20 feet total...If I can Find one.

Can a 20 foot hose be added without damaging anything if I can Find it? I read somewhere that anything beyond 12 feet could allow to much moisture and damage the regulator??

Any help would be appreciated....

Thanks Ponder

Back when Marshall Brass made the Extend-a-flow/Stay it came with a 10 foot hose and I got a 2nd 10 foot hose.. You can get as many of those as you need. Though do be aware that when you DISCONNECT from the rv the more hoses you link the more propane is lost to the atmosphere.

I was told that the Extend A Stay is now the Sturgi Stay. I don't know if they bought the rights or what but the product looks the same.
You can see it here CLICKY

  • I wonder where the moisture would come from. I made mine with 25' of hose. Been using it for 10 yrs and on 3 5er and no problem. Maybe there's some gas code that limits the length. Craig

If your tapping before the regulator be sure you are using high pressure hose.

That is a fact. I tapped "after" the regulator with quick disconnect fittings and valve and I had a custom hose made. The company that builds the hose that I used will only build hoses with the high pressure hose material. They are concerned about people mixing them up. It works for me, but it is a little heavier.
  • Yes..Hi Pressure hose.....I have searched around here for someone to make a custom hose...seems like that would be the way...but have not yest found anybody....I can always connect two 12 footers....that would give me plenty....

    Thanks for your advice.....Ponder

Go to a welding supply store. They made mine pretty cheap. Even leak checked it for me.
