What does it indicate when you can't see the numbers on the chart but you can when you look through the disk with pinholes in it just fine?

In general that test is to check whether new glasses or surgery can help. If your vision improves through the pinholes , a new Rx may help. Cataracts, Glaucoma or retinal problems can change that generality.
