cataract surgery makes retinal detachment more likely. I had cat surgery on both eyes and no longer needed glasses. A year and a half later my left eye got blurry. I delayed going to doc. It was a retinal detachment, had that surgery and because of delay I have some permanent vision loss. 6 months later the other retina went. Because of quickly addressing it that eye is now back to 20/30 with glasses.
The pinhole occluder eliminates spurious light and forces you to focus with one part of the eye. It is a basic screening tool. To get a better idea of how it's used simply Google "pinhole glasses" or "pinhole occluder" you'll find plenty of information, but the big thing is to address it quickly.
