Fifth Wheel Hitch Types

White looking at air ride fifth wheel hitches, I saw one site that said you could order the hitch with the Valley or Holland Binkley hitch. The Holland Binkley is a lot more expensive than the Valley. I have no clue as to which is better. Internet searches are not that helpful other than one site bashes Holland Binkley and the rest will be glad to sell you one. Anyone have any experiences with either one?

  • I full time and have been using a BD3 since I started in 2013. No problems. Works great. Would not have anything but a Hensley air hitch.
  • I have the Holland Binkley head on my TrailerSaver TS3. It is a heavy duty thing that is easy to deal with once you figure out the 3 positions and their functions. The only negative is that it has massive 1 1/16" jaws so you need to adjust the thickness of your lube plate so that the jaws are centered in the king pin groove. Once dialed in it is a quiet connection. It can be padlocked in the closed position for security.

I presume the quality of this head is why TrailerSaver uses it.
  • We have a TrailerSaver BD3 with the Holland Binkley head. There is a specific lever position when hitching. Once it's hitched shut, you can do a visual and know it's locked in place, safely and securely. Not to mention that you will hear it lock. That's all we've ever towed with.
